We’re stuck in a limbo #foundersmeet #founderawards
The idea behind FoundersMeet was simple, not profound. As was the intention. Having taken shape after hours and hours of discussion, arguments, deconstruction and reconstruction, we are currently at a stage where luck has beaten us to the finishing line.
The FoundersMeet and Founder Awards was announced on the 22nd of January, 2012. Since then, our Founder Awards section has gained a lot of commendation for its novelty and initiation. There was some critical feedback as well, which were more than happy to receive and respond to. But with every step our resolve to get this show on the road kept growing clearer and stronger.
As of today, we have 220 + award nominations, 40+ start up launch applications received, wonderful media partners, brilliant promotion and publicity partners, three very encouraging start-up community partners and a panel of speakers whose trust and time we won purely through our candor and passion for making this event happen. Our tweet-up was at Au bon pain and was a great success. Thanks to our twitteratis for taking our message across to 23k people, with over 200 tweets in 3 hours. We’ve had daily page visits crossing well over 1,000 unique visitors and this makes us tear with pride.
But this event will not take place on the 18th Feb, 2012; as we do not have the most important set of people to grace this event and contribute their industry expertise for Founder Awards and Start-up launchpad. We did not receive confirmations from Venture Capitalists, Angel Investors and other senior mentors from various industries to help us choose the best founders and the best start-ups. Without them, two of the three highlights of the event would fall flat face down.
What do Founders look for in an event? Ask yourself this, as you read through the note and you will know why it is important to have the movers and shakers from the ecosystem, among the doers.
We, as a team, have had pretty much everything in place, marked off the check list, except for - Jury Members for Start-up launchpad and Founder Awards. Now how on earth were we to know we’d have to compete so much to get them on board as well?! #facepalm #onalighternote
#onaseriousnote - We are committed to enthrall you and that we shall not compromise on. The event is simply postponed and not put out. We acknowledge the trust you’ve placed in us and promise you an event to remember. Our team is currently personally in touch with the Speakers, Start-up launch applicants and Nominees to seek their presence for the revised event schedule.
To all those who are reading this, we appeal simply to take heart in the fact that we are upfront, unassuming and respectful of your time.
We’ll be back in no time and this time we’d have fit all the pieces of the puzzle right. Consider this to be a short commercial break.
